The trail is mostly descending although from Păltiniş to the Onceşti Garden it goes a bit upwards. It is a spectacular descending trail with an altitude difference of 880 m. The landscape is not at all boring because it alternates between wooded areas, glades, sunny pastures, steeper heights and gentle slopes.
On your route you will encounter a couple of sheepfolds but do not be frightened by the dogs barking - they are used to tourists. You will find a well worthy photographic view on top of the Ghihan Summit (1411 m). In these lands, under the Ghihan Mountain, legend has it that there lived an old man with his wife. Far from the other sheepfolds and hamlets, they were safe from the attacks of a dreaded gang of local brigands.
From Ghinan the route takes you to Apa Cumpănită (1303 m). This is not far from Răşinari. Take the path going through the hay meadows between the Strâmba and the Plaiului Valleys to the southern end of the village, along the Caselor River Valley.
