Former medieval burgh, Mediaş is a town of mysteries. Beyond its walls, towers and bastions it keeps legends, stories, symbols and exquisite experiences. Visit St. Margaret Church, well known for its rich collection of Anatolian carpets, the Large Square with its historic monuments but also the ensemble of walls and fortification towers.
Axente Sever: in the fortified churchyard, on the location of the former storage facilities they put together a museum which tells amazing stories about the lives of the Saxon colonists.
Valea Viilor: UNESCO site with Saxon houses guarded by high wooden gates decorated with local motives, stone cobbled yards shadowed by vines, cultivated gardens spreading to the hills and an imposing fortified church from the 15th century.
Moşna: a fortress-church attested in the 14th century; its interior is remarkable due to the stone sculpture works and the baroque painted furniture.
Alma Vii: vividly coloured houses decorated with family blazons, wide streets lined with fruit trees; a beautiful 14th century fortified church.
Richiş: Saxon village once known for its vineyards. Visit the 15th century fortified church whose interior abounds in original animal, vegetal and human motives.
Biertan: UNESCO site remarkable through its Saxon houses copying the urban architectural style but especially through its imposing fortified church. Surrounded by three precincts, this is the strongest peasant fortress in Transylvania.
Copşa Mare: 14th century fortified church, a genuine gothic architectural complex. If you are in Copşa, take some time to visit Mălâncrav, as well - a Saxon village placed among beautiful orchards. Mălâncrav is an excellent keeper of rural architecture, traditions and Saxon customs. Visit the 14th century evangelical church with its mural painting and the Apafi mansion.
Dumbrăveni: the Armenian Museum was organised in the fortress-castle erected in the 16th century by the prince Grigore Apafi. In the centre of the town lies the Armenian Church.
Alma: the protestant gothic style church built in the 15th century which still holds elements of mural painting.
Dârlos: gothic fortified church whose western portal is decorated with oak leaves and vine stems.
Bazna: spa resort renowned for its deep-drilling salt, mineral waters, sapropelic mud and excellent climate for treating rheumatic diseases, troubles of the locomotive system and gynaecologic illnesses.
