In the higher part of the Hârtibaci Valley, hidden among the wooded hills lies Stejărişu, a small village with no more than 800 inhabitants.
At the beginning, the village used to be named “Terra Borothnik” and was closer to the river, near the road. However, the countless floods and consistent attacks from invaders destroyed it several times. Finally, it was rebuilt in a region a bit more protected from attacks, on a high land far from the fury of waters.
The village lies in a picturesque landscape, surrounded by gentle slopes. Its people lead a simple life, occupying their time with animal husbandry and harvesting their crops.
In summer you may take a walk in the nearby forests and then visit the garden of the Parish House with countless medicinal plants and the souvenir shop opened inside the fortified church.
