Fofeldea is one of the oldest Romanian settlements from the Hârtibaci Valley set up in Roman times, just like the surrounding villages. The first Saxons arrived in the area in the 14th century but because they got into a conflict with the Romanians living here they withdrew to Agnita. There are many legends still going on about the Romanians from Fofeldea and their stubbornness to leave their village and their lands to the Saxon colonists.
Today, Fofeldea is a small village at 32 km from Sibiu which boasts a historic monument church painted by the Grecu brothers.
