The route difficulty is moderate and the altitude difference if of 728 m. This is an interesting route because it goes both through populated areas and through areas which are no so easily accessible to tourists.
The circuit starts in the centre of Răşinari, one of the largest settlements from Mărginimea Sibiului, the birthplace of poet Octavian Goga and of philosopher Emil Cioran. If you start your journey in the centre of the village, do not hesitate to visit the St. Paraschiva orthodox church and if you have more time, discover the locals’ life as it used to be at the ethnographic museum.
From Răşinari the route takes you via the Prislop hamlet, a small settlement where most of the families weave natural fibre baskets or brooms. From here the route sets on a gentle uphill slope until it becomes a true challenge for those less initiated in the riding “art”. The route goes through forests and small glades, with numerous camping sites. Once you get to Apa Cumpănită you will be greeted by a majestic view of the mountain peaks scattered with sheep flocks.
From Apa Cumpănită go downhill on the Caselor Valley - the route is much better going down! - to the centre of Răşinari.
