The « Traditional Artistic Handcrafts » National Olympics (since 1996)

Starting 1992 the Open Air Museum hosted 4 editions of the Children’s Craft Fair. In 1996, by steps taken at the level of the Ministry of Education and Research, the event was approved to be included in the official calendar of Extra-Curricular Educational Activities and it was transformed in a national Olympic contest: The “Traditional Artistic Handcrafts” National Olympics. Children aged between 6 and 18 participate in this competition proving they are genuine masters of the traditional art. Every year, the Olympics reunites over 150 gifted children from almost all Romania’s counties, including Sibiu.
