The church was built by the locals from Săsăuş in 1782 and the painting was done by the Grecu brothers.
As soon as you pass the threshold you will be fascinated by the beauty of the mural paintings. Even if for two centuries the smoke of the candles has blackened the walls, the paintings of the Grecu brothers have lasted in time and the pious faces of the saints can still be admired today. The beauty of the painting can hardly be put in words and the history behind it, that of the Grecu family of artists, makes it all the more valuable.
There are very few things still known in Săsăuş about the lives of the Grecu painters; what is certain is that their work is still present and its priceless value has turned the church into a historic monument. The village elderly know that their village was home to a family of renowned painters and whenever they go to church they pray for the souls of those who used their art to bring people closer to God.
