The Anatomy of Darkness

The exhibition hosted by the Brukenthal National Museum brings together four Romanian artists: Costin Chioreanu, Claudiu Doncuțiu, Andrei Szabo and Constantin Scărlătescu. Having different, unique styles and using a variety of techniques for artistic expression, the four artists are drawn together by the ARTmania Festival.

The Anathomy of Darkness. A site specific journey integrates into the permanent exhibition Gothic-Gothic Revival experience vs. Enlightenment pattern set up in the basement of the Brukenthal Palace, a space that is suitable to suggest the atmosphere, and gives drama to the exhibition, bringing a note of authenticity that is hard to reproduce in other environments.

The exhibition concept is based on the fact that solitude, macabre, mysticism, terror and social anarchy are not contemporary inventions but themes that have come to life as a result of historical facts.
